Why are you visiting this website?
If you are student, who is taking my class, all class information is on Blackboard. This definitely includes the class Syllabus (a must read), and in most cases, assignments, grades, and everything else.
If are looking for one of my papers, you may be able find a copy on arXiv. If you can't find it there, send me an email. There is a good chance I can send you a copy.
If you are a graduate student (or anybody else) interested in working with me, check out my research. As of June 2022, my two PhD students are graduating, so I may have some extra time now. However, I'm planning a sabbatical next year. If you are in Louisville, feel free to drop by my office.
If you are a background checker, or anybody else trying to check me out, or figure out who I am, here are a couple of things I'm interested in.
- I am interested in talent education in mathematics. I have been faculty at Epsilon Camp since 2018, and Academic Director since 2019.
- I'm a self-professed tree-hugger, and I'm interested in things that are related to it: electric vehicles (especially motorcycles), gardening, sailing.
- I am member of the Louisville Sailing Club. I have ASA 101, 103, and 104 certification.
- I love to bake bread. Most days I bake a simple traditional white sourdough. The recipe is my own, but there is no great mystique about it. The principles of breadmaking have been known for centuries. I also make rye bread often from rye that I grew in my back yard.
- I love music, and I'm interested in music theory (taken some classes). Nowadays I mostly listen to rock, heavy metal, and blues, but I also love classical. I enjoy messing around with my guitar, though I've never gotten beyond the beginner phase.
- I think at this point I have to admit to myself that I like running. Not a great runner, but maybe not a terrible one either. My best 5 km time is 18:11 and my best marathon is 2:59:03. I haven't completely given up breaking that marathon time yet.
- I am a former volunteer firefighter. I served for 5 years, starting at McMahan Fire Department in Louisville, and after the merger, Jeffersontown Fire Department.
- Though currently I have no time for this, I love games, especially Go and Ulti. My ruleset is cited on Wikipedia!
- Last, but not least, I'm a husband and a father of two daughters.
