STATISTIC AND APPLIED PROBABILITY SEMINAR

DATE and TIME: Oct 28-th, 2004 @1 pm in NS 234

SPEAKER: Greg Rempala (UofL Math Dept)

TITLE: Multiple Tests For Gene Expression Data

ABSTRACT: The talk shall consider certain aspects of the resampling-based multiple testing methodology commonly used for analyzing gene expressions data. In particular, it will examine some of the key concepts behind the popular step down procedures for $p$-values adjustments like the partial null hypothesis, strong control of the family-wise error rate, and the subset pivotality property. The presentation will attempt to point out to some potential difficulties in applying these concepts in the typical setting of the gene expressions analysis.
