During the seminar our guest Dr Richard Derrig will talk about his long and fascinating carrier as an applied
mathematician in the insurance indistry. Dr. Derrig is currently President of OPAL Consulting LLC,
established in February, 2004 to provide research and regulatory support to the property-casualty
insurance industry. Prior to forming OPAL, Dr. Derrig held various positions at the Automobile Insurers
Bureau of Massachusetts and at the Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts over a twenty seven year period, retiring in January, 2004 as Senior Vice President at AIB and Vice President of Research at IFB.
Dr Richard Derrig is one of the leading national experts on insurance fraud and a recipient of many professional awards including most recently received a prestigious 2005 Journal of Risk and Insurance
Robert I. Mehr Award for the paper that best stood the test of time in the insurance literature.
