Position Description: Post-Doctoral - Reasearch in Math Modeling of Intracellular Biological Reaction Networks

The Statistics/Applied Probability Research Group in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY is currently looking for candidates for a 12 month post-doctoral position starting January 1, 2007 (or possibly earlier) and related to Group's sponsored research on mathematical modeling of intracellular biological reaction networks. The position is a purely research one (no instructional duties) and carries a joint appointment between the Department of Mathematics and the Center for Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the Health Sciences Campus. We are looking especially for individuals with recent PhD (or ABD) in mathematics or statistics and interests in one or more of the following areas:

  • computational methods for ODE's and PDE's
  • optimization (classical and stochastic)
  • MCMC methods
  • stochastic processes and queueing theory
  • graph and networks theory
  • general mathematical statistics and/or applied probability theory
