Early Start Program in
Mathematics
For B. A.
Mathematics majors who want to be Secondary Mathematics
Teachers
The Early Start Program offers qualified students a way to
combine the B. A. in Mathematics with an M. A. T. in Secondary Education.
Students who qualify may take up to 9 hours of their M. A. T. coursework as
electives toward the B. A. in Mathematics, thereby reducing the total credit
hour requirements for the two degrees by up to 9 hours.
- To
qualify for acceptance into the program a student must have completed 21
credit hours of the Mathematics course requirements for the B. A. in
Mathematics with a 3.0 GPA in those courses.
- Interested students
should contact Dr. Williams to have their qualification verified. (Office: NS 324; email: williams@erdos.math.louisville.edu) This process should be begun as
soon as possible.
Students who meet the qualifications above still need to complete a teacher
education application packet and meet other requirements for admission to the
College of Education and Human Development before they can register for the M.
A. T. courses.
