Title: Some mathematical theory for models in a heterogeneous shifting habitat
Speaker: Dr. Changbing Hu, University of Louisville

Abstract: In this talk we will first give some informal introduction on mathematical models describing species’ persistence and spreading in heterogeneous media, emphasis will be put on the mathematical techniques, like the method of super and sub solutions. We then turn to some models with heterogeneous shifting diffusivity, see the work done by Faye, Giletti and Holzer in arXiv, present some results concerning the persistence and spreading speed in some general models.
